About the Oshkosh Aircraft Builders Club:
The OABC was
formed in early May 2002 with a group of individuals, pilots and
non-pilots, who wanted to experience the trials of creating a homebuilt
airplane. And hopefully to experience the joy of flying in one.
Many of the members deal with daily, or even read articles dealing
with experimental aircraft, yet never had first hand knowledge of
what it actually takes to build an aircraft.
Members include
pilots who wanted to create a flying club, student pilots who want
to build an aircaft to learn in, non-pilots who like hands on building,
and even individuals who just want an outstanding experience.
In a special
attempt to provide knowledge of the experimental aircraft building
process, the Oshkosh Aircraft Builders Club has been granted special
access to build an aircraft in the EAA AirVenture Museum. Slated
as an living exhibit for the museum, the Oskosh Aircraft Builders
Club is currently building a Sonex aircraft in the Cessna Restoration
Center within the museum. Visitors are encouraged to come by and
see the progress, time, and hard work of building an experimental
aircraft. For museum information, please visit www.airventuremuseum.org.
The OABC also
encourages you to track our building progress on this website. We
will chronical our process and progress within this website, so
be sure to check back!
